Getting Started
By the end of this guide you will have RedEngine imported, Fusion connected, and two local peers running the Compact Multiplayer Showcase.
1. Import RedEngine
Import RedEngine from Unity Asset Store > My Assets using Package Manager. Let Unity finish script compilation and Addressables refresh before continuing. The complete requirements and health check are covered in Installing RedEngine.
2. Import the showcase
- Open Window > Package Manager.
- Select RedEngine Framework.
- Open Samples and import Compact Multiplayer Showcase.
- Run RedEngine > Samples > Configure Compact Showcase.
The installer creates or updates the default EngineSettings, registers scenes, configures Fusion Weaver, and selects Multi-Peer mode.
3. Configure Photon Fusion
Open Fusion's project configuration and enter a valid Photon App Id. Confirm that the runner prefab and showcase scenes are present before entering Play Mode.
4. Run two peers
Start Play Mode with two Fusion peers. Use the Peer selector to switch which peer receives local input. Move both characters, collect the weapon, fire, and verify that the result is visible from both views.
5. Trace one action
Follow Jump from the Input Actions asset through InputSettings, InputContext, Fusion input, the ability system, and the replicated character result. This is the central RedEngine pattern: input and simulation run on ticks; UI and feedback react to the result.
